HOLDOVER RACES REPLACE RAINCHECKS FOR MOTOR MADNESS WEEKEND

September 28 - Since all divisions did not have a chance to complete their races this past weekend, Bethel Motor Speedway promoters Dave and Joanne Rocket made the announcement today that, in addition to the "Bethel Motor Madness" three race miniseries on October 3rd and 4th, the track will also host holdover races for the divisions that were affected.

Wristbands will not be honored for rainchecks, but instead all who were scheduled to compete in races that were halted because of the rain will be able to run their holdover features just as they would any other time during the season. Those competing in the holdover races will be entitled to the separate purses established for those events.  These purses will be separate from the Motor Madness purse.

"In all fairness to the competitors, we want to give them the chance to finish out their regular points season on the track," the Rockets stated. "A number of drivers still have the opportunity to make up points that could affect the season-long outcome, and we want them to be able to take advantage of that opportunity."

All competitors who were slated to compete in feature events prior to the rain this past Saturday will be eligible to take part in the make-up races, which will be scheduled into the weekend's events as the schedule allows. The races will be treated as regular holdover races, and all purses for those events will be distributed accordingly, eliminating the need for anyone to hold on to their wristbands. The announcement applies to all those associated with the Sportsman, ECS Auto Stores Pro Stock, Street Stock, and 4 Cylinder Junior classes who were at the speedway this past weekend prior to the rain.

"We felt that this was the most fair way to handle the situation," the Rockets said. "We didn't want the competitors who were ready to race on Saturday to lose a race, and it would be next to impossible to isolate those races out of the bigger show this weekend, so the best way to handle it was to simply add the holdover races to the schedule."

Gates will open at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday for the "Bethel Motor Madness" weekend, with hot laps at 3 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m. Drivers in all classes will compete in a three-race miniseries, with each division crowning a "Bethel Motor Madness" champion at the conclusion of the weekend. Grandstand admission is just $5. Questions can be directed to the speedway office at (845) 778-3839, and more information can be obtained at www.bethelmotorspeedway.com.

BETHEL MOTOR SPEEDWAY IN GEAR FOR MOTOR MADNESS WEEKEND

September 26, BETHEL, NY - While rain may have halted racing at Bethel Motor Speedway this past weekend, things are in high gear at the track for the "Bethel Motor Madness" weekend to be held October 3rd and 4th. The two-day event will include a three-race miniseries for each of the speedway's divisions, culminating in the crowning of a "Bethel Motor Madness" champion in each class.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the gates at Bethel will swing open at 1 p.m., with hot laps beginning at 3 p.m. Racing is slated to start at 5 p.m. The format will feature two 25-lap feature events for each division on Saturday, followed by a 35-lap feature on Sunday. Drivers will draw for starting position for Saturday's first event, with an invert being used to set the field for the second race. Each competitor's starting spot in Sunday's race will be based on an average of their finishes from the first two races. The total number of points accumulated will determine the champion in each class. The event will include the Sportsman, BMS Modified, ECS Auto Stores Pro Stock, Street Stock, 4 Cylinder, Legends, and Bandolero classes.

The Sportsman competition will undoubtedly include such regulars as Dan Conklin, Greg Morgan, Dom Roselli, and Jerry Curry. Other regular and visiting competitors are expected to take advantage of the opportunity to take part in the unique experience of wheeling a typically dirt-run car on the paved 1/4-mile track. BMS Modified competitors Norm Barnes and John Cote will have the opportunity to continue their competition for dominance in the class. They will face challenges from the likes of Jim Fugel, Dan Wood, Johnny Demarmels, and others.

In the ECS Auto Stores Pro Stock division, Joe Barnes, Bobby Policastro, and Jesse Hilger will all look to capture bragging rights over a field that includes Mark Sylvester, Jim Helt, and numerous others. Drivers such as Vinny Stanton Sr., Brent Shaddock, Tommy Johnson and others in the Street Stock division will look to unseat Gary VanOrden, who has had the most dominant car in the clas s in 2009.

The 4 Cylinder battle for the miniseries champions will include such drivers as Larry O’Donnell, Eddie Lindstadt, Billy Curry, and others in the Senior ranks; as well as Jonathan McGibbon, Vinny Stanton Jr., and Gary VanOrden in the Juniors.

Legends competition is expected to feature such drivers as Joe DeGracia, Joe Fresco, and John Hugate all looking to keep the crown out of the hands of Mike Alcaro, who has nine wins so far this year. Joseph Graf Jr., Mikey Policastro, and Jared Palmer are expected to be among the Bandolero competitors. The number of laps for each Bandolero race will be determined by the number of competitors.
