BETHEL, NY – Bethel Motor Speedway’s annual LegendStock event has gained the  reputation of being one of the most exciting, highest-paying Legends races in the Northeast. With the sixth annual running of the event – which is an INEX Legends Asphalt Nationals qualifier – less than two weeks away, the entry list has started to grow, with drivers from neighboring tracks joining Bethel regulars for a shot at the $1,500 winner’s payday and one of the three-foot tall guitar trophies that have become a trademark of the event. The event carries a $3,000 total purse and boasts of more than $2,000 in trophies. Alliance Shippers - a Victory Lane sponsor at Bethel and season-long sponsor of the Legends division at the track - has once again signed on to support the event.

Bethel Motor Speedway will be well represented, with entries already being filed by numerous competitors. Masters driver Jim Sylvester, who currently sits third in Pro/Masters point standings at the speedway, was among the first to file an entry. Sylvester has captured one overall win and nine Masters division wins in 13 starts so far this season. Sylvester was the Masters division winner at LegendStock 2011. He will have to compete with fellow Masters driver Joe Graf, who took home the LegendStock 2012 Masters win, if he plans to take home another coveted guitar trophy. Graf, the track’s defending Legend Pro/Masters champion, has raced on a limited basis so far this season, but has one Masters division win to his credit so far this year. Fred Graf will be looking to take home his first-ever Masters win and guitar trophy in the prestigious event. F. Graf was sixth in Pro/Masters points at Bethel in 2012, and currently sits 15th in the standings. Tom Sherman will be making the trip off of Long Island, having filed his entry as well. Sherman is a veteran of LegendStock, having competed several times since its inception in 2008. Sherman was 17th in the final rundown at LegendStock 2012, but had run much of the event inside of the top ten.

Competition for the Pro division trophy among Bethel regulars is sure to be intense, as both Richie Coy and Stephen Hershey have already filed entries. Hershey currently sits fourth in Pro/Masters points at the speedway, while Coy trails him by a mere 14 points in fifth. They can expect stiff competition from both 2010 Bethel Legends champion Todd McCollum and Pennsylvania native Raven Schrantz, who finished second in Bethel Pro/Masters points in 2012. McCollum is presently in the midst of a two-race win streak on the quarter-mile oval at Bethel. Riverhead Raceway regular Richie Davidowitz has also entered the mix in the Pro class. The driver, who hails from Long Island, recently recorded his first career win in the Legends class at his home track and will be looking to ride that momentum to a win at LegendStock. It will be Davidowitz’s first-ever appearance at Bethel.

Joseph Graf, a rookie in the Young Lions division, has entered to make his first attempt at claiming a guitar trophy. The young driver scored the 2009 Bandolero championship at the speedway and most recently took home fifth in the season-long Bandolero standings at the speedway last year. Several Young Lions from Long Island have thrown their hats into the ring to contest with Graf. Brothers Artie Pedersen III and Allan Pedersen have both filed entries. Pedersen III scored his first career Young Lions division at Bethel just a few short weeks ago, claiming the win in a combined-division race. The young driver who calls Riverhead Raceway home has scored two top ten finishes in three starts at Bethel this season. Allan Pedersen has made two starts at Bethel so far in his rookie season in competition in the Legends class. Connecticut’s Waterford Speedbowl will be represented by Young Lions driver Joey Ternullo, who recently filed his entry. It will be Ternullo’s second visit to LegendStock, and he comes riding the momentum of a successful 2013 season to date. The driver presently sits second in points in his home track’s Wednesday Legends series, and he has scored two wins so far this year.

The Bandolero entry list has also started to grow, as drivers look to take to the track in preparation for the 16th annual Bandolero Nationals, which will be hosted at Bethel Motor Speedway August 15-17, and as they aim to bring home the guitar trophy that goes to the Bandolero race winner. Bandit driver Max Evans, one of the youngest Bandolero competitors regularly in competition at the speedway and who is also the two-time defending track champion, was the Bandolero race winner at LegendStock 2012. Outlaw Christian Eckes, who has registered seat time at numerous tracks over the last two seasons but calls Bethel Motor Speedway “home”, has also filed his entry. Eckes finished eighth in the standings at Bethel in 2012, and currently sits inside the top five in points at the speedway. The young driver finished second at LegendStock 2012. The pair will be challenged by Bandit Lars McElravy, a Pennsylvania native who races regularly at Lake Erie Speedway. McElravy - who has turned laps at tracks nationwide - has made several appearances at Bethel in recent weeks, and will be looking to take the Bandolero guitar back to his home state. Outlaw rookie Gillian Kirkpatrick, fresh off of three wins in the Beginner Bandolero division, will be looking to make the move into the Bandolero class prior to LegendStock so that she can also compete for the guitar.

With additional entries expected to flood the speedway office in the coming days, LegendStock 2013 is sure to provide plenty of side-by-side action from many talented drivers. Drivers are encouraged to submit their online entries, as there is a $15 discount on entry for preregistered cars.

More information and an online entry form can be accessed through the Bethel Motor Speedway web site at www.bethelmotorspeedway.com. Information can also be obtained by calling the speedway office at (845) 319-7908.

BETHEL, NY – With the 2013 season well underway at tracks across the country, the time is drawing near for the largest, most prestigious Legends race in the Northeast - the annual LegendStock event at Bethel Motor Speedway. The speedway office announced that online registration for the 50-lap, $1,500-to-win INEX Asphalt Nationals qualifier is now open.

In the five years that the event has taken place, a total of nearly 200 cars have pulled through the gates to race for the glory, the big payday, and the one-of-a-kind trophies that have become a trademark of the race. The race carries a $3,000 total purse, with $1,500 earmarked for the winner. More than $2,000 worth of trophies are given out, and many drivers make the trek to Bethel Motor Speedway in pursuit of the three-foot tall guitar trophies that are tied into the rich history of the track which is located just four miles from the site of the original Woodstock Music Festival.

This year’s LegendStock event is slated for Saturday, August 3rd, with a rain date of Sunday, August 4th. The entry fee for a car and driver is $70 for preregistered cars, and $85 the day of the event.

As it has been done in the past, the field for the prestigious event will be set through a combination of both time trials and heat races, with C-mains and B-mains to round out the field as needed. Alliance Shippers has once again signed on as a sponsor of the event.

With several of last year’s winners absent from Legends competition this year, the door is wide open for new winners to be added to the “Wall of Fame” that is part of the LegendStock 2013 site. The LegendStock 2012 Overall and Pro winner Matt Pappa has taken on new ventures, and Young Lions winner David Schilling has been absent from Legends competition thus far in 2013. It is expected that LegendStock 2012 Semi Pro winner Ryan Mackintosh and Masters winner Joe Graf will both be on hand to defend their wins in last year’s event. They are sure to have tough competition, as both Bethel regulars and visiting drivers will all be looking to take down the regional qualifier win. All eyes are sure to be on the entry list in the coming weeks as the always-impressive list of competitors grows.
